FAQ

Enterprise ITAD Frequently Asked Questions

Practical answers for procurement, information security, audit and ESG teams evaluating IT asset retirement services.

01

What is ITAD?

IT Asset Disposition is the governed retirement of technology assets. It combines inventory, data security, custody, logistics, reuse or recovery, downstream recycling and reporting; it is broader than generic electronics recycling.

02

How should an enterprise choose a destruction method?

The choice depends on media type, condition, data sensitivity, reuse objective, customer policy and applicable requirements. HDD degaussing does not apply to SSD or NAND flash.

03

What does Chain of Custody mean?

Chain of Custody records who controlled assets, where they moved and what happened at each handoff. The agreed evidence may include counts, serial numbers, timestamps, locations, responsible parties and treatment results.

04

Does KYI claim ISO 27001, NAID AAA or R2v3 certification?

No certification should be inferred from a standards reference. Where certification preparation is discussed, it is expressly described as in preparation rather than obtained.
